Web Directory Submission Tips!

Here are some directory submission tips that will help your site be accepted into more directories.

Submission Tip #1: While submitting your site to other web directories, don't always just look at the first page PR and use that to determine if you are going to submit your site to that directory. All that really matters to you is the PageRank of the actual category/section that your site is going to be placed in. That is why you will sometimes find a PageRank 3 or 4 higher ranked than PageRank 5 or 6 because that particular PageRank 3 or 4 directory has higher PageRank within the directory, making it a better web directory.
Submission Tip #2: Why would you want to sit here for hours submitting your site to all of these web directories? The answer to that question is that you want to get your site's PageRank higher and get your site some more traffic. Don't invest all of this time submitting your site the wrong way! Wrong category, title, keywords, and descriptions are the main reasons why sites are Rejected. If you don't want your site to be rejected follow all of the guidelines/terms according to each directory or else you are wasting your time, and the editors!
Submission Tip #3: If you are just starting off your site, and do not have a huge budget, submitting your site to these free directories is probably one of the best things you can do. I would consider submitting your site to all of our free web directories as Phase 1 of marketing your site. Especially if you do not have a high budget, all of these web directories can help your PageRank and site's exposure. Free advertising and link building should make you happy! So be Happy! Submission Tip #4: Building link backs to your site is a very important part of marketing your site. You can buy link backs through other popular sites or through web directories. You do not want to over submit your site to too many directories at one time because some search engines might find it to be "unnatural" which could make your site's PageRank go down.
Submission Tip #5: It is important to have a well designed site that has unique content that directories are actually interested in including your site to their directories. Some sites aren't likely to be added to directories and you shouldn't even waste your time submitting it to them. Ex. Affiliate sites, turnkey sites, Adword filled sites, etc.
Submission Tip #6: Submitting your site to directories more than the limit set by the directory is considered spam and only slows down the validation process for everyone. Spamming your web site to directories is something that shouldn't be done and will likely result in a ban from that directory and possibly others. Only submit your web site to a particular directory once, and give it some time before contacting the admin about your submission.
Submission Tip #7: Becoming an editor of a directory is usually an advantage because you can add and delete web sites from the directory. If you are qualified in a a category, being a editor can only help your chances of being accepted to the directory.
Submission Tip #8: Use this list of directories and try to submit your site to at least 5-15 free or paid web directories every couple days. It is a good idea to write down or make a spreadsheet of all the web directories you have submitted your site to for future reference.
